Outreach

This year was a great year for chatting with community groups, nonprofit organizations, and the media.

We spoke to, or were mentioned by, the media 61+ times in 2021. Topics ranged from food prices, Basic Income, and food insecurity as an election issue to social innovation, the Kickstarter challenge, and the Western NL Food Hub. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to speak publicly about the work we and many of our partners are doing throughout the province.

We were also happy to offer presentations, panel participation and engagement sessions to various groups throughout the year. Our staff delivered more than 30 presentations to attendees from around the province, the country, and internationally. Most of these were online, but we did have a chance to see a few people in person again - a highlight was hosting a food systems roundtable in Corner Brook alongside planning sessions for our Western NL Food Hub. On the Zoom screen, we spoke at the Arrell Food Summit’s “Changemakers’ Forum” with panelists from all over the Americas, to the Reaching Home (Indigenous) working group, and to many community organizations.
